You don’t necessarily need a huge budge to create a video for your business. Of course, it helps, but it isn’t necessary for creating attractive materials for your customers. In the article, we present some tips on how to create movies with limited financial means.

Let's start with the things you need to prepare in advance to be able to make your own movie.

1. Camera

The higher quality the equipment, the better for your production. Nowadays, however, virtually every smartphone allows you to record movies in HD. So, the minimum requirement for the camera is a smartphone which records video at a resolution of at least 1280 x 720 pixels.

2. Microphone

A smartphone microphone isn’t always suitable for recording sound. This is especially true when shooting from a distance, in which case it can be hard to hear what the presenter or character is saying. So, get a separate microphone, preferably a small model that you can easily clip on to your shirt or lapel. They don't have to be expensive - cheaper equipment will also work quite well, even versions without separate power supplies, as the equipment used by professional TV stations usually has. It’s important that it’s equipped with a universal 3.5 mm mini jack connection.

3.  Sound recorder

Viewers are more likely to forgive poor image quality than poor sound quality. Therefore, at the outset, it’s worth getting at least a basic digital voice recorder with a 3.5 mm mini jack input for connecting a microphone. It will provide good quality sound, which you can later combine with the image during the editing process.

4. Tripod

You don’t want to make your viewers dizzy, so it’s important to have something to stabilise the camera or telephone, such as a tripod. When buying, make sure that the overall height (retractable legs) and the horizontal and vertical position of the camera or phone (the head, where the camera or phone is mounted) are adjustable. As a rule, each tripod is equipped with a special connector for connecting the camera, and the camera itself also has a universal connector compatible with most tripods. For a phone, you’ll have to buy a special tripod mount adapter. Such adapters aren’t expensive, and are often included with the tripod itself.

5. Selfie stick

You may want to shoot your film in a way that doesn’t allow for using a tripod. For such occasions, it’s worth getting a selfie stick, which will provide for comfortable filming and a natural viewing angle. What about filming without using any tripod, i.e. by hand? Such movies don’t look very professional, so use this option only in an emergency.
